Homework

At Allenbourn, we believe that homework is an important part of your child’s education. It encourages pupils to develop the skills, confidence and motivation to study effectively on their own, consolidates and reinforces skills and understanding developed at school and extends school learning.

Years 5 and 6:

Every Monday (Year 5) and Friday (Year 6), the following homework will be set:

In addition, pupils should read daily for 15-20 minutes. Daily reading must be recorded in the pupil’s reading log.

A homework check will be carried out during tutor time on Monday (Year 5) and Friday (Year 6).

Years 7 and 8:

In Years 7 and 8, pupils will be required to complete their daily goal in English, maths and science on Tassomai on at least five days out of seven. In addition, pupils should earn 600 Sparx Reader points and complete the Sparx Maths tasks set. Other foundation subjects may occasionally set a homework task.  All homework will be monitored during tutor time on Friday.
